This is the survivors story:

Mr. Hasan Yusuf Gudum, an eye witness, who himself was wounded during the same terrible event, relates the sad incident as follows :
"On the night of the 24th of December, 1963 my wife Feride Hasan and I were paying a visit to the family of Major Dr. Nihat ilhan. Our neighbours Mrs. Ayshe of Mora, her daughter lshin and Mrs. Ayshe's sister Novber were also with us. We were all having supper. All of a sudden bullets from the Pedieos River direction started to riddle the house, sounding like heavy rain. Thinking that the dining-room where we were sitting was dangerous, we ran to the bathroom and toilet which we thought would be safer. Altogether we were nine persons. We all hid in the bathroom except my wife who took refuge in the toilet. We waited in fear. Mrs. ilhan the wife of Major Doctor, was standing in the bath with her three children Murat, Kutsi and Hakan in her arms. Suddenly with a great noise we heard the front door open. Greeks had come in and were combing, every corner of the house with their machine gun bullets. During these moments I heard a voice saying, in Greek "You want Taksim eh!" and then bullets started flying in the bathroom. Mrs. ilhan and her three children fell into the bath. They were shot. At this moment the Greeks, who broke into the bathroom, emptied their guns on us again. I heard one of the Major's children moan, then I fainted.
I remained unconscious for 2 or 3 hours, and later, I saw Mrs. Ilhan and her three children lying dead in the bath. I and the rest of the neighbours in the bathroom were all seriously wounded. But what had happened to my wife? Then I remembered and immediately ran to the toilet, where, in the doorway, I saw her body. She was brutally murdered.
In the street amist the sound of shots I heard voices crying "Help, help. Is there no one to save us?" I became terrified. I thought that if the Greeks came again and found that I was not dead they would kill me. So I ran to the bedroom and hid myself under the double-bed.
An hour passed by. In the distance I could still hear shots. My mouth was dry, so I came out from under the bed and drank some water. Then I put some sweets in my pocket and went back to the bathroom, which was exactly as I had left it an hour ago. There I offered sweets to Mrs. Ayshe her daughter and Mrs. Novber who were all wounded.
We waited in the bathroom until 5 o'clock in the morning. I thought morning would never come. We were all wounded and needed to be taken to hospital. Finally, as we could walk, Mrs. Novber and 1, went out into the street hoping to find help and walked as far as Koshklu Chiftlik. There, we met some people who took us to hospital where we were operated on. When I regained consciousness I said that there were more wounded in the house and they went and brought Mrs. Ayshe and her daughter.
After staying three days in the hospital I was sent by plane to Ankara for further treatment. There I have had four months treatment but still I cannot use my arm. On my return to Cyprus, Greeks arrested me at the Airport.
All related to you above, I told the Greeks during my detention. They then released me. - - "

It makes me go cold when I read that. My mum chose to hide us in the bathroom of our house as well. We were not rich enough to have a proper bath but a Gazan. She covered us with clothes and sheets to hide us.

1)The people were IN_THE_HOUSE as guests having supper. They did not go in there to escape from gunfiring that occured in the neighbourhood.
2)The GUESTS were in the house while the HUSBAND was away.

Of the eight people allegedly in the bathroom, only Mrs Ilhan and her children died even though the gunmen supposedly emptied their machine guns on all eight of them and left them for dead. Do you think that after the alleged attack ended, the four survivors would have been left wounded in the floor of the bathroom so as not to spoil the phot op?

Chill out, Zan. Clearly whoever carried out the attacks were using smart bullets: they could be aimed at anyone the attacker's desired, but still landed only on those whose second name was Ilhan.

Why so many strangers in the house Zan? Do you know ANY, and I mean ANY Cypriot woman (or Turkish woman) having so many guests in the house while HER HUSBAND was away?????

You really have no idea have you. There was caos and people were trying to hide where ever they could from the advancing murderous Greeks. Maybe just maybe these visitors as you like to call them were offered a safe place to hide. It turns out that it was not safe at all. You have the worst detective mind I have ever seen and can only be explained by your blind attempt at blaming everything on the TCs and trying to divert the masacres away from murdering Greeks. Every thing is so easy for you. Blame Turkey and if that does not work blame the TCs and then you blame VP and others like him for not wanting to live with you. Not true. According to the "official account" (http://www.pubinfo.gov.nc.tr/n4.htm) Ilhan's wife had five people for dinner while her husband was away. Four of them allegedly hid with Mrs Ilhan and her children in a small bathroom. The attackers allegedly rushed in the room and "emptied their guns" at point blank range on all 8 persons in the bathroom until they thought they were all dead.l Miracously, all but the members of the Ilhan family survived!

As the official account goes, the gunmen having indiscriminately "emptied their [machine] guns" on nine nine people, 4 of whom were children and three more women, and left all nine of them for dead, then continue their attack on the remaining civilians of the Turkish neighbourhood. A few more hours of gunfighint occured during which time no more victims were claimed other than two Turkish Cypriots who opened fired on the Greek Cypriot gunment and got killed in the ensuing gunfight!

Is anyone really, seriously, expected to believe this story? And yet the Mr Ilhan claims he does. Doesn't that sound fishy to you?

The things we can say for certain about the particular incident are these:

a. The alleged eye witness is lying through his teeth.
b. The Greek Cypriot operation that took place the same day as the killing allegedly occured was clearly not associated with the death of Mrs Ilhan and her children.
c. Whoever attacked the Mrs Ilhan and her children, wherever the particular attack got place and under whichever circumstances it took place, intended only to kill Mrs Ilhan, her children an no-one else.

You make it sound as if the others were not even scratched. They were all wounded. Is that not consistant with rappid fire from a machine gun quickly done so that the murderers got away. As you can see in the picture the children were in the bath right in front of the doorway so the gunfire would be aimed at them first.



I still don't get what that Pyro is getting at either. My dad was in the army and gone for weeks at a time. We did not sit about and see no one when he was away, We had friends round for meals and things?????????? Inspector Cleuso does it again.
