Gav it's by no accident I suggested this thread be "embargoed" because I knew very well that your drips and drabs of "information" would lead to this mess but unfortunately some people saw fit to give it a go.

EOKA means…"Eliniki Organosis Kyprion Agoniston" and in English translates to "Greek organization of Cypriot fighters" so it makes sense that the name would be preserved but in order to differentiate one struggle (anti-British) from the other (pro-Greece) they used "A" and "B".

TP was the team leader (administrative involvement) in Famagusta for EOKA "A" but had nothing to do with EOKA "B" as he was a fervent Makarios supporter. Take good note that EOKA "B" was AGAINST Makarios so as to unite Cyprus with the Greek military junta.

Now let's get back to something more interesting shall we?

Plan A and Plan B to get to ENOSIS

You could say that.

The difference is that "Plan A" was a totally legitimate cause and the fight was against the colonialists and it had the support of the great majority of Cypriots, while "Plan B", on the contrary, fought not against foreign rulers, but against Cypriots and their democratically elected government.

Today no. Back then I was not born to support it.

Now to the theoretical question of "if I was alive back in 1950s if I would support it", then yes. Cypus back then was not a country, it was a colonized territory were the great majority of population is Greek. Back then Liberation meant union with Greece, and the offer for independence didn't even exist If you notice of the many 100s of islands in the Med. sea only Cyprus and Malta are independent states today. Back in the 50s there was no Med. Island that existed as independent country (Malta gained independance in 1964).

Therefore for 1950s Liberation from colonialists = union with Greece. Therefore I would definitely support the liberation of Cyprus.

However If a true independence was offered to Cyprus as an alternative then I would support independence instead of union with Greece.

Today almost nobody supports enosis and in fact the only place I hear about enosis is in here by the TCs. It is about time that TCs forget about the illegal and criminal partition as well, so we can finally have peace.
