Three Britons have been killed in a house fire on a British military base in Cyprus, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
State radio on the island reported that a man and his two children died in the blaze, which broke out at RAF Akrotiri, near the port city of Limassol.
An MoD spokeswoman confirmed that the three victims were British.
She said: "It is with deep regret that we can confirm that a house fire at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus on Saturday night has tragically resulted in the deaths of three people.
"It is far too early to speculate on the cause of the incident and a thorough investigation has commenced.
"Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time."
The victims' names would not be released until next-of-kin had been informed, she said.
