Interesting Ancestors

Postby Niki » Sat Mar 17, 2007 6:29 pm

As a post has been started about finding out who your ancestors are I thought it would be good to see if anyone knows of their own interesting ancestors.

My most interesting is John Pascoe who was Nelson's flagship man and the man who told Neslon how best to phrase "England expects every man to do his duty" and then lay it out in flags for him.

Mt grandfather was also called John Pascoe and was a seaman as were all the males in the family going back to the original.

Other ancestors include Cornish shipwreckers, one of them was deported and came back to Cornwall with a black bride who was one of the first black people to have set foot there.

I think my ancestors are same as VP's, Miltiades's, Piratis's, Birkibrisli's, Zan's, mrfromng's, Lena's, Pyro, and any other Cypriot that are on here.

What can I say, I'm a lucky guy.

Niki2410, have you ever visited Nelson's battle ship, the HMS Victory in Portsmouth at all, and if so, did you feel as if you were closer to your ancestor John Pascoe. :?:

f_c,

I do not care who they were/are, as long as they were Cypriots. :D

Who ever they were, it has resulted us all being here and on the forum, even if we do fight like "cats & dogs".

If any of our ancestors died before passing of their genes, we would not be here today, and that would be a damn shame, so let us all rejoice, that we are all from Cypriot ancestors, and if nothing else can be said about them, at least they knew how make babies.

My mum is Cypriot, I wouldn't be suprised if I had Greek in me somewhere down the line because my grandad and his family were from a Greek dominated Karpaz, my grans family were from Lefkosa. My dads from mainland Turkey but his mum was Circassian (Cherkess) from Caucascus, and my grandad from Kastamonu (Black sea region). :D

I think Cypriots are a lovely mixture of many cultures - shame it was mainly the argumentative gene that was passed down!

Actually no I haven't visited the HMS Victory Kikapu! I should I guess. My family talks about it and we have a letter written by him describing the event.

I was hoping for a Genghis Khan or Cleopatra ancestor. Any offers??

Cleopatra hey. Listen, if you look anything like Elizabeth Taylor, you're half way home.

Hms Victory is a great ship, so make an effort to visit her one of these days. You might even hear some voices.

Actually I look better than Elizabeth Taylor - as she is now!! She was just gorgeous though wasn't she.

Richard Burton had 'the voice' to die for, wow that voice.
