Without them, we would be overrun by rats and mice. An average adult snake eats a couple of rats/week in the warmer month. It is a bad fact that the average Cypriot kills every snake they see. This is not only bad in that it increases the rodent population, it is also criminal and subject to important fines and/or imprisonment.
