He did accuse his bro-in law of stealing his money. It was not pleasant. Then it finally clicked. Fett suddenly became metres.

Turkey does produce nice olives, but I am biased towards Cypriot ones. They might not be fleshy but they taste good.

I also prefer any village hellim/halloumi to the factory made 'polymerous squeeky sponge'. Turkish Food Markets sell open halloumi produced in Cyprus by Stephanos. I like that the best.

You know, some of those olive trees in "Turkey" have been there longer than Turks! Who planted them?

Come to think of it; a lot of the olive trees in Cyprus have been around longer than you Turks have! Including my favourite "Poly-gamous" in Polis!

I am almost certain that I actually own olive trees that would definitely be older than you and probably a couple of generations before you.

shah how can you be almost certain. i know i have olive trees because i planted them and watered them. they produce fantastic olives. the ones we get from the shops just dont taste anywhere near as good. the best part is the olive oil real extra extra virgin being muslim an all. none of this greek cypriot crap.

I am certain that my trees are older than Oracles existence, since she claims that we are not as old as the trees or some rubbish

We make olive oil too!

I have never been without my Cypriot olive oil, no matter where I went

Nothing else taste the same!

Also, karayağ, we make, which is amazing! Everyone who tastes it falls in love as well.

You fail to recognise that in the long term, the outcome can only be binary:

1. EITHER Turkey will keep moving towards, and eventually enter, the EU, or
2. OR it will not.

Under (1) Turkey will accept a fundamentally fair solution, which will also be acceptable to a majority of GCs (this cannot be the AP, or anything like it)

Under (2), Turkey will have absolutely no reason to "behave" in Cyprus - in fact, it is likely that the "West" will allow her to do all sorts of things to Cyprus as "compensation" for not getting the EU entry. Under scenario (2), any rational Turkish government will do 2 things:

(a) If an Annan-plan-type solution had been previously agreed, it will dishonour any and all obligations it undertook under this agreement (which means we will have lost control of the RoC and everything that goes with it and got absolutely nothing in return)

(b) Regardless of whether or not a solution was already put in place, and unless small Cyprus by that time has found a "protector", Turkey will intitiate conflict - and there are many ways to do this (e.g. use the tens - hundreds by then - of thousands of muslims Turkey keeps sending over to us, fabricate an attack etc). Although for the time being our EU membership provides enough security under the circumstances, this may well not be sufficient to stop Turkey under scenario (2).

On the basis of the above analysis, my view is that unless Turkey is willing to offer a decent and secure solution today, we are better off with the (bad and admittedly deteriorating) status quo - simply because the alternative is far worse.

I worked three years for a US multinational and had Turkish colleagues, mostly from Istanbul and the surrounding areas. They are the ones that were the most scathing about Easterners. You think I am generalising, you should have heard what they had to say!

I would speak the same thing, but, unlike the others here, I would not blame it on one ethnic group, and I can see why they do what they do. Serious lack of education, living in a very closed and image(name)-dependent society, along with a lot of crooked religious beliefs.

The police think that the increase in crime is because of the economic crisis, people are becoming more desperate, especially illegal immigrants.

We had to start an entire section for crime, the number of stories has gone up dramatically in the last two-three years, and I heard yesterday on the radio (Kanali 6) that crime has gone up by 15% in Limassol - and they only have around 600 police officers.

That was the only recent one I could find. The robberies in Paphos seem to be carried out by Ponti...... oops sorry, I mean Georgians.

We currently have a President who gave a stirring speech on whether the Republic of Cyprus will exist in the future and whether GCs will exist on the island.

This has to be the biggest, most disastrous, and pessimistic Governments the entire world has seen in all history.

Can Cypriots afford to allow imbeciles like that rule the country? The answer is obvious!

It is only inevitable that Turkey will attempt to take control of the entire island. They only need the right conditions and then it will be on once again. It may take 10, 20 or 30 years, there may or may not be a so called solution in the mean time, but Turkey's agenda is obvious!

Everyday I login to Cy Mail and there is definatley an increase of crime.

You can't blame the Brits or Eastern Europeans as some of the Bank Jobs reported have been carried out Greeks and Cypriots.

Why has there been an increase do you think and coming from Cypriots I would never have thought it was in their nature.

Before you start saying Cyprus is safer to live than UK, of course it is, I am just commenting/asking why the increase??

There is so much contradiction in what you write, for example, Turkey only recently stood up to Israel and in the past, can you count the number of wars Turkey fought with Russia? You can paint a picture of Turkey in the way it suits you, but it will be far from real.

So, you do not want us to embark into an armed struggle against Turkey today, but you say that we should prepare for one tomorrow. This is childish talk and really there is no point in pondering over such nonsense.
