After following the policies and claims of all parties entering the forthcoming election, I have decided for a while now that the poorest of them all "TDP" will get my support and vote. The party leader has always been the odd one out in the parliament, not scared to voice the truth, not scared and irrespective of who it was he was addressing - against corruption, police brutality, domination by the mainlanders, indiscriminate ID card issues to new settlers, Most of all I like his motto "...It's because I am a Cypriot"

Albeit they do not have much funds such as UBP, CTP and DP - most of whom are heavily backed by Turkey, they have won the hearts of many TCs who have been looking for an alternative to CTP, who proved to be noting better than UBP when they last came to power. TDP may not necessarily get the votes and seats one would wish for, but I am sure they will do a lot better in the next general election if they stick to their guns and prove themselves to be the men/women of their word during parliamentary meetings...

...and by your own logic Gig, the Greeks, to be better people, must promote change, change which is a better world for everyone. this is the Cypriot cause, or should be (especially if you are proud of "Greekness"). it does not matter whether the population of Cypriots in the north is small, we know that Turkey has occupied Cyprus in every way they can, and whether you are Turkish, or Greek, it is possible to think of Cyprus, first. i do not generalise, Cyprus is not a Greek State, although by demographics it is a Greek state, "Greeks" are not Cypriot (and for the same reasons, "Turks" are not either), not all Greeks are "Greeks", not all Turks, are "Turks". we need, as Cypriots solidarity.

RW - I self-deleted my post so that I can think about the idea some more. It was the natural conclusion and it saddened me. Of course, the inference could be good for Cyprus and so perhaps I didn't want it trivialized. (Nor to insult the few honorable TCs.)

boycott in my mind is a big mistake. better to go to the poll and destroy the ballot. far more expression in that, a percentage of voters; otherwise, the boycotters if i can make up a word, are measured within a population who don't care in voting...

...if it were possible, this is the point i'd make to all Free thinking People, people can vote to defend Democracy, this choice in voting (a big "X" on all the candidates) also speaks words.

frankly bill, i don't know why this strategy is not used as a tactic, it is a powerful weapon against a dictatorship, which relies on Ballots secretly cast.

Well RW, the Boycott Campaign is very small, but it exists cos a few CYs up there are pissed off with such things as the granting of 000s of "trnc" "citizenships" , particularly these past few months...
