Someone asked why Papadopoulos does nothing to resume the talks. I came across this article, I think it explains the situation.

| Weston : Impossible to resume negotiations |

- TRNC President Denktaş and USA Special Coordinator to Cyprus Weston refused the call from Papadopoulos to resume negotiations.
- Stating that they refused the re-opening of the Annan Plan to negotiations, President Denktaş responded to the Greek Cypriot leader’s call as : “Papadopoulos has missed the train”
- On the other hand, Weston said: “Papadopoulos may call to resume negotiations but there is not anyone in front of him”. Also the international community does not support this.”
- Recording that they were working on the issue of lifting the isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots, Weston said that an aid package was being prepared at the moment.(Halkın Sesi) |
We already expressed some genuine concerns the GCs had so I don't need to address them. If the international community turns its back on our concerns it's not our fault, we should not be blamed for their failure. |
