My question is only to GC friends. Why do you want to unite with the North? Please, exclude the property issue
On the other hand, I haven't met even one single TC who has an enthusiasm to unite with the South!!! They look ok with the present situation... |

"Uniting" doesn't describe the solution, as I see it.
Removing the illegal, occupying foreign army and their colonising settlers, so that the north is freed from foreign influence, is the necessary outcome.
If the TCs were so unhappy about living with GCs and they left with the Turks, it wouldn't bother me; although, I think they would be making (another) mistake.
So, it's less about "uniting" and more about restoring law and order to the whole island. |

| We want to liberate our own island from the foreign invaders. Only an idiot would not be able to understand such obvious thing! The TCs are Turkish Settlers from the first Turkish invasion. They now gained the Cypriot citizenship and they can stay on our island as equal Cypriots but if after all these years they still didn't learn to like and get along with the native Cypriots and they prefer the Turks then they can follow the Turkish Settlers from the second Turkish invasion and return with them to Turkey so they can live alongside other people with whom they are compatible with. |

This a very sweeping statement given that 65% of the people on the TRNC electoral roll voted 'yes' to the Annan Plan in the 2004 referendum, and many of these people were TCs.
In my experience, many TCs are desperate to see a just solution that will allow them to live as Cypriots in a united island rather than face extinction in a sea of mass migration from mainland Turkey.
Since you can read Turkish, I would suggest that you try to get hold of an article entitled "Kendini Geri İsteme İradesi Olarak Kıbrıslı Türk Kimliği: Sadece Kıbrıslılık" (Turkish Cypriot Identity as the Will to Reclaim Oneself: Only Cypriotness) by Ümit İnatçı in a fairly recently published collection of articles edited by Mehmet Hasgüler with the title "Kıbrıslılık" (Cypriotness). In his article, İnatçı argues that the very concept of Cypriotness entails opposition to Turkish colonialism. This article on its own refutes the claim that 'not a single TC wishes to live in a united Cyprus'. |

Thıs is the book I mentioned above:
It contains a number of articles by Turkish Cypriots about the notion of Cypriotness. I think it is one of the most interesting books written by Turkish Cypriots to appear recently. |

Greek Cypriots are not interested in “unions” of any kind, but to liberate their enslaved territory so that everyone returns to their rightful home and Cyprus’ sovereignty is respected.
The word “unite” is being used by some in line with the currently aimed POLITICAL solution as opposed to a military one. |

Alpeis,
As a TC I was not going to respond, in keeping with your wish that this question must be answered by the GCs, but then when you added the second sentence above where you claim NO TCs want to unify with the GCs, which is absolutely false, except for the ones who are rolling in Haram money with the GCs properties, I have reached the conclusion that you are nothing but a mouth piece for the puppet regime in the north by making such statement as you did above. Your whole appearance here on the forum has been about that, no matter how you have on occasions been taking swipes at the military and to Turks in general, but you have moved your position a lot since your initial post only couple of days ago. I don't even buy into your so called "love story" to a GC girl. You are here with an agenda and no one is falling for it, least of all me, a TC who does want to unify the island, but regardless, I'm still looking forward in reading your Harlequin Romance Novel, "The Turk and the GC Girl", love at first sight in your first six months in the north.! Sell your story to whom ever wants to buy it, but don't try to sell it here, because you will go broke.!
By the way, where the hell on God’s Earth have you picked up that awful American slang word "DUDE" that you like to use so much.? It is hardly a word used by any Intellectuals in America, let alone an Intellectual from Turkey.! |
