We will be arriving in Cyprus at the end of August and will be travelling around the Pathos area. This will be our first time in Cyprus so are really looking forward to our Holiday!! Very Happy

Could someone please let us know what the weather is likely to be like?

Also are there any traditional restaurants that you would reccomend??

Would appreciate any advice you can give....

The weather will be hot so always have water with you and please take care in the sun.

Many a holiday has been ruined by pale English skin being burnt in the sun.

Will you be hiring a car? because the best and traditional places to eat are outside of Pafos and they are usually cheaper than in the town.

I hope you have a really good, happy and enjoyable holiday so please post here after you get home and tell us how it went for you.

Best regards,

G.

Pathos? thats not in Cyprus... i think its on the island called Chavotwatta in the middle of Pacific Ocean. BUt i am sure the weather is fine over there aswell as local cuisine.

August in Cyprus is always stinking hot and humid. It's the worse time to come here.

Monday will 32C during the day, 22C at night
Tuesday will be 32C during the day and 22C during the night
Wednesday will be...

....well, you get the picture.

Although very warm at night it gets dark early, so take a torch. We had a tourist arrive 10 days ago in Pafos; on the first evening he walked across the road to a taverna and fell into a 5m sewage trench on the way back and was killed.

One of my favourite 'traditional tavernas is the Farmyard in Kathikas; take the road from Latsi to Peyia and take the left fork into the village of Kathikas, it is on the left. About a 30 minute drive along a scenic route.

Lana always gives the most accurate and factual information on a number of issues.

May I also add my best wishes on your choice of a holiday , do please remember the advice concerning taking care in the sun, many a holiday has been spoiled by exposure to sun without care on the first few days.
Paphos has many attractions and many good restaurants , not least Lana's recommendations of the one in Kathikas which is situated some 4 miles away from Stroumbi the Great , my birthplace !!
