Janey,
As Oracle says, get a plug in anti mosquito device. I've been bitten on New year's day in Pafos.
You're in an ideal place to explore Cyprus. The Akamas peninsula can be breathtaking. Pack a picnic and make a day of it. Definitely bring your walking boots - lots of trails to follow.
Try to find "off the track" tavernas. The food is generally more authentic, cheaper, and the atmosphere more genuine than the tourist areas.
If visiting Polis find the Prodromi Tavern. Incredible food reasonably priced. Prices in the main square can be quite high (particularly with the exchange rate as it is).
Don't bother with "named" bottles of wine. Cyprus house wines in a caraffe are as good as most bottled wines you get in the UK.
Finally, just go out there and enjoy. Cyprus is a terrific, friendly place.

I'm beginning to wish I'd booked 2 weeks now!
Plenty more holiday time available the rest of the year.
Just one last question (until I think of another one!) I read somewhere plugs were the same as ours? |

99% of the time yes. Some hotels do have the 2 pin sockets, but even if this does arise all the supermarkets have adaptors (and the hotel will probably lend you one anyway). Don't worry if you forget anything. The only things I ensure I take are: passport, atm card, phone charger, mp3 player. Anything else you can buy there anyway.
