A derby is a derby and regardless of its outcome it won't reflect on the overall team standings this time next year. |
If you take the 2 teams and compare player to player then we're slightly ahead in quality. Omonoia has a better keeper.
- Omonoia and anorthosis have far better keepers (our biggest problem)
- We have a better defense with Hristou and Segkiri as the 2 best centre backs in the league along with Dellas of anorthosis. Injury has made sure we haven't played our first choice players yet.
We have the best left Back in the League in Florea
- Our wingers compare easily with Aloneftis and Christofi of Omonoia. Apoel has Kosowski (arguably the best foreign player in Cyprus) and Charalambides which is a replica of aloneftis (aloneftis wins this on pace). He conpares easily with our fastest player Paulista who had his leg broken in Belgrade.
-defensive midfield, Apoel is far above the other 2. Satsias, Hrysis Michael, Morais and Brourse are by FAR the best defensive midfielders in Cyprus. The Cypriots have not moved one inch from the national side and have started in nearly all games. Morais (from Chelsea and a personal choice of Mourhinio is a pleasure to watch) Once again injury has meant we have not seen our 2 best play in that position this year yet.
In attack despite the fact that we have the standard striker for the Polish national side, I admit Sosin of anorthosis and Okkas/Nikolescu of omonoia are better. We do hwoever have Papathanasiou who is the new up and coming star of CYprus and has recently been called into the national squad.
I'd say the teams are pretty similar, injury has cost us heavily this year. |

Another excellent and well researched remark by someone who has an in depth knowledge of Cypriot football.
Instead of a one-liner why don't you read my post and tell me where you disagree? |
