NO..what you should do is come and live in this military regime first then comment about it...

Easy for you to live in a democratic country and comment about regime in north Cyprus from far far away.

Never said it was perfect but what choice do you have.... Question We are trying to fix it and the first step is recognition or a fair deal...

We have many people, let alone the "RoC" and Greece, trying to disrupt if not destroy our lives in CYPRUS. WE HAVE BEEN UNDER SIEGE FOR OVER 40 YEARS. Games will be played and mistakes will be made in the struggle to keep our heads above water. You have no idea what the people that arrested these people saw or know....If it is a mistake on our part then find out the truth and then condemn. You are far too quick to jump on the anti Turkish bandwagon and not thankful enough for their protection.....Where I live does not matter...Where you live is even more telling......

No where you live does not matter, but the outdated excuses you present for living there (still), whilst extolling the virtues of the occupied north, tell a different story Zan, and at the very least, portray you as a hypocrite.

Oh! Really......I have had to build a home on a different land because mainland Greeks like you forced me off the island and now you are trying to tell me that I have to suffer the upheaval and disruption to my children's education so that you can hold me hostage as well.....I can speak freely from where I am without the need to worry about you tracking my every move and putting me in danger......You have no restrictions and no loyalty to your husband or your child by the look of it but then I am not surprised at all by that. You flit from Cyprus to the UK on a whim or on official propaganda duties but have the cheek to have ago at me. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Zan,
I suggest you read classic story "Diyet" by Omer Seyfettin (does the story remind anything to you..specially the last paragraph?)

Unlike you, my unhappiness at ending up in the UK has made me take steps to reverse that process. It has taken years to organise, and perhaps another few to make sure no one suffers in the process.

But you are proving a hypocrite. You just moan and find excuses but in reality you have no desire to live in Cyprus. So why should you dictate your wishes if they go against the people who do live there?

Above all ... stop blaming Makarios etc for you being in the UK now ... It is now YOUR CHOICE to be in the UK... accept it like a responsible Man otherwise change your tune.

Re Google Earth. The Cyprus maps go up to a level of resolution that will allow you to see individual buildings. If you want more detail then you can pay a few dollars to Iconos and get way higher resolution, you can actually see cars and distinguish their make. So this allegation that the two Dutch men were spying is total bullshit. It would have cost less for anyone wanting photo intel to buy it from Iconos. And there are sites on the net bristling with photos taken from the fence looking into Varosi, as there are clips on Youtube.

But this hidebound military shit has surfaced before, when RoC papers published satellite images of Varosi and the Turkish military reacted and made threatening noises. These guys are touting themselves as the best in NATO, yet they have no idea of technology.
